The Sandilands National Trust team are creating new homes for a variety of wildlife including breeding birds like snipes, lapwings and oystercatchers, unusual migratory birds such as black-tailed godwits, and also rare spotted redshanks and spoonbills.
In summer, you can be captivated by the colourful blooms of yellow flag iris and purple loosestrife, and hear the calling squadrons of avocet.
In winter, you’ll be able to admire the grace of a whooper swans’ flight as they arrive from their summer breeding grounds in the sub-arctic.
